"RIIIIIIIIING!!!"
An ear-splitting noise rang loudly in Fox's ear, waking him from his slumber.

Fox jolted awake as the horrendous noise reverberated through the small room.
" Wha?"
He cleared his strangely hoarse throat and looked around the unfamiliar surroundings
" Where am I? "

As his vision became clearer, the strange room came into focus. The small room before him was a dim-white color. So dim that it nearly reached "gray" territory. The lights were hardly bright enough to see from one end of the room to another, but he could see enough to know that he had never been there before in his life.
He was in a sleeping bag, which had visible tears and creases all over it. A night-table with a digital alarm clock stood to the side of the bed. This, no doubt, had been the source of the ringing. A few feet away was a circular window, no wider than 2 feet in diameter.
As he continued to stare around the strange room however, he realized something startling. He felt... light. Almost as though there was nothing holding him down onto the bed. As his sleeping bag loosened, he could feel momentum pulling him up into the air.

He must have been still asleep, that was the only explanation. He felt like a helium balloon on the verge of being cast out by a careless child.
"What the hell is happening?!"
Fox stared down at his makeshift bed. He struggled to give this scenario a plausible explanation.
Failing that....
"HELP!!"

There was no answer. Fox seemed to be the only person in the room, and apparently, within hearing distance. As he continued to float up into the air from the momentum of his rising from the bed, his left foot hit the side of the night-table by the bed. However... The table didn't budge. It seemed to be built into the floor, and upon closer inspection, the clock on it was nailed in place. Perhaps he wasn't the only thing in the room prone to floating. He simply needed to hold onto something.
The window was barely within grabbing distance. If he could just reach it...

Fox stretched as far as he could to reach the window ledge, but it seemed to be just out of his arms range.
He forced his left foot into the night table, then pushed off it, hands outstretched, it seemed like it wouldn't be enough, but the ring finger of his right hand hooked around the circular opening. Gaining optimism he tightened his grip with his other hand as leverage.
The good news was he was no longer floating. The bad news was he was now suspended in mid air.

But if that wasn't bad enough, worse news came. As he peered through the window, the sight before him far exceeded the shock of waking up in this strange room, and floating around uncontrollably. As far as he could see, there was nothing but stars and space. No sign of land, sky, or anything remotely resembling what could be seen on Earth. Small pieces of rock debris floated by the window, as he stared at this astonishing sight.

"Huh"
This seemed to be the most coherent response his vocal chords could manage, depite his inner monologue screaming Space! Space! Spaaacccee!. Fox saw himself as a logical individual, surely he had fallen asleep in the national space museum. True he hadn't been there is over a decade, but he held on to this thought like an anchor.
After the initial shock wore off, more rational conclusions danced in his head
"That's why I'm floating?"

Just then, he noticed something else as well. On his left wrist. It was some sort of bracelet... unlike any he'd ever seen before. On the face was a circular screen, giving off the impression of it being a digital watch. However, it didn't display any numbers. All it showed was "- -". Two dashes. As though there was nothing for it to display.
The bracelet was quite tight on him. A little uncomfortable, even.

He was about to investigate this bold fashion choice, but he remembered his tentative hold on the window. Instead he stared at it with curious horror.
He had never seen this watch before, a conceited voice inside him asked pointedly where the Rolex his father imported for his 16th birthday had escaped to but he ignored it.
What on Earth... oh that was funny, he clearly wasn't on Earth anymore.

To his dismay, he didn't see sort of buckle or clasp on the bottom of the bracelet. Even if his hands were free, there didn't seem to be any easy way to take it off.

He sighed heavily.
"Ok, forget about the watch for now"
He desperately scanned the room for any other handholds, as well as searching for any possibly danger lurking on he ceiling.

There were handholds all around the room. A metal desk, a cabinet, a bookshelf, and several other things. Pushing off of objects to float with momentum was also an option. On the ceiling, he saw a strange hatch. It read "EMERGENCY ESCAPE" in bold red text. Holding the hatch shut was a large wheel-shaped latch. It didn't seem safe to open.
There was only one other apparent exit in the room. A large door, about 5 feet wide. It was dark gray, and had a square shape, suggesting no one side of it to be "top" or "bottom". Without gravity, it didn't make a difference either way.
The door didn't have any apparent knob, however. He didn't see any way to open it... except for a button. There was a small red button, off to the side of the door. A dim glow emanated from it. Printed directly above it was the text "OPEN". Perhaps it was connected.

Fox quickly worked out a path of momentum, bracing both feet against the space-filled window behind him ( silently praying it wouldn't shatter under his weight ) he pushed himself forward and grabbed the bookshelf with both hands, Fox momentarily thought to check what treasure troves of fiction awaited him
" Focus damn it! "
After ricocheting off the other furniture he reached the mysterious grey door. He hesitated, a mixture of hope and dread washing over him, before jamming his left pointer finger into the small red button.

A robotic male voice played from the intercom speaker above him.
"You have selected to activate the emergency escape hatch. In 9 minutes, the hatch above you will open, allowing you and the contents of this room to be sucked out into the deep vacuum of space. If this action was made in error, please scan your Life card here. Otherwise, we hope you enjoy your stay in space. Have a nice day."
As soon as the recording ended, a metal box of some sort popped out of the wall by the button. It appeared to be some kind of key-card reader. But before he could make sense of it, he heard a creaking sound come from above him.
It was the large hatch on the ceiling. This must have been what the voice was referring to. The large wheel-shaped latch continued to keep the hatch closed, putting a safe wall between him and outer space. But something wasn't right... the wheel was now slowly turning, creaking with each inch.

"Shit!!"
Fox stared up at the hatch in opened mouth horror.
"Life Card.... what the fu.... oh shit, I'm dead."
He looked around the room with renewed interest, could the damn life card be in the cabinet or the desk?

Unfortunately, it was to no avail.
Wooden Cabinet: - The cabinet was a few feet to the right of the bed. It seemed to be made of a strong wood. - Upon trying to open it, he found that that it was locked. There was a keyhole on the right door of it. - There was nothing else of interest on or near the cabinet.

Fox screamed in exasperation.
" Find a card, find a key... "
Biting back his distress, he moved floated himself towards the metal desk and investigated it.

Momentum carried him to the desk. Upon his arrival, he saw something interesting.
Metal desk: - It seemed to be made of metal. - There was a green 6-sided die laying on it. Oddly enough, it wasn't floating. - Near the die, there was a brown dice-rolling cup taped to the desk. - The desk had two drawers. A right one, and a left one.

Fox attempted to open the right drawer.

When he opened the drawer, he was immediately greeted with a flood of pencils, paper, and other office supplies, flying out due to the lack of gravity. The objects blocked his vision from the drawer as they spread out in the air. One pencil made its way toward his face at an alarming speed.

Instinct kicking in, he batted the torpedo away from him with a vicious backhand.
He looked up at the floating stationary,
" I can't see a card or a key"
He tried to duck away from the projectiles, his eyes caught the green die again, it wasn't floating away.... did that mean he couldn't pick it up?
He reached out a hand to make a grab for it.

It took a bit of force, but he was able to lift the die off the desk with relative ease. It felt like lifting a magnet off of a metal surface.

" Finally a break " As fascinated by this die as he was, Fox suddenly remembered the left drawer, he forced the green die into his right jacket pocket, zipping it shut for safe keeping, then tried to pull it open.

What he found inside was nothing interesting. In fact, there was nothing but dust inside the drawer at all.
Though he got an odd feeling. Looking at the empty drawer, he began to feel like he was forgetting something.

"What am I? "
He looked around the desk and saw the dice rolling cup, was this what he had "forgotten"? He tried to lift it off the desk.

The cup came off easily, as it was held down by nothing but tape. But the feeling remained. He still couldn't shake the feeling that he was forgetting something obvious.

It was a rather worrying feeling, it wasn't as if he had time to spare thinking about this. He put the cup in the same pocket as the die, then swirled into the center of the room, looking at everything in detail.
What was he supposed to be doing?
