The paper shot out directly at Fox's face, followed by an ambush of dirt, crumbs, and soot. The scattered fragments slowly began to clear as the cloud spread in the air.

Fox was knocked back by the onslaught. He began coughing wildly.
When the dust cleared he glared at the two girls with an expression of pure hate.
He shook out his rather dirty hair and picked up the piece of paper. Blinking rapidly in an attempt to clear his vision enough to read it.

She zoomed toward the TV and turned it back on, then pressed "367" on the number pad.

The screen went white for a moment, then showed a new channel. 367 - The Escape Channel: - It had no sound. - Nothing but some colorful text appeared on the screen.

"It's the number of letters in each word"
He turned to stare intently at the screen.
"So what do you think all those zeros mean?"

"Well basically, the way it reads colors is by using these 6-digit codes. Every two digits is one byte, and each byte represents the intensity of each primary color that makes up the total color." Nona changed the TV back to channel 367. She pointed to each of the three colors that the "0"s consisted of. "See? The first byte is for red. Second is for green, and third is for blue. You've heard of RGB before, right? That's what it stands for."

Nona crossed her arms in thought, as she tried to explain.
"Well, the values of each byte aren't written in normal numbers... Our normal number system is Base 10, also known as Dec. It basically means that each digit can hold one of 10 possible numbers: 0 through 9. But color codes in HTML use Base 16 instead. Also known as Hex."
"In Hex, there are 16 single-digit numbers instead of just 10... does that make any sense?"

"But since there aren't any latin symbols for numbers higher than 9, we use letters instead: A through F. In other words, counting to 10 in Hex would sound like this:"
0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, A, B, C, D, E, F, 10.
"And those same letters would appear again any other time you pass 9, no matter what digit place you're on. So there would also be a 1A, 1B, 1C, then eventually a 2A, 2B, 2C, and so on. For some perspective, Dec 100 would be Hex 64, and Dec 300 would be Hex '12C'."
The quick calculations were like simple math to her. She was able to solve them without batting an eye.
"Since each byte can only have two digits, can either of you guess what the highest possible value for a primary color is?"
