When they returned to the lounge, they found that the picture frame had slid to the side on the wall, revealing a small compartment behind where it once was.
Secret compartment:
- A small block of space behind the picture frame.
- There was a chess piece taped to the back wall of it. It was a black King.

"Yeah, we found this in the other room"
He handed the piece to Akane for inspection
"No, sorry Saru, but you can't eat chess, you can eat cheese but it isn't the same thing"
And.... he was talking to a monkey. Worse, he was telling god awful jokes to a monkey.

The chess board was set up rather elaborately. It was almost as though it was meant to screw any black piece placed upon it. Few places on the board were safe, especially for a King.  On the side of the board was a small plate engraved with a message. It read "Defeat Zero". |

Fox didn't know too much about chess but he knew enough to know it wasn't blacks day.
He placed both hands on the back of his neck and looked at Mei
"There might be more pieces hidden around here, but..."
Saru's input put him off momentarily, he looked at him questionably before gazing intensely at the board.
"Maybe we can just find some safe place for our Royal friend and "defeat" Zero that way?"

"I think she's right about that. If you look at it carefully, it seems more like the challenge is to make Zero lose the game of chess."

Fox remembered the instructions he found earlier, maybe there was a clue in there somewhere.
He withdrew the card from his pocket and read it again.

Chess instructions:
- Pawn: Moves one space forward. Two spaces on its first time. Only captures diagonally.
- Rook: Moves any number of spaces vertically or horizontally.
- Bishop: Moves any number of spaces diagonally.
- Knight: Moves exactly three spaces, and must make a 90-degree turn after the first or second space. Capable of traveling over other pieces.
- Queen: Moves any number of spaces in any direction.
- King: Moves one space in any direction. Kings are not allowed to move into spaces that put them in danger of being captured. If one finds itself in a position in which it is unable to escape capture no matter which direction it moves, the game is over.
*Note: Players may not "pass" on their turns.
