What he saw was intriguing. The bed showed many signs of use, suggesting that he wasn't the first or even fifth one to sleep in it.
Bed: - Had a sleeping bag tied down to it. This is where he had been sleeping. - There was one pillow tied to it as well, at head-level. This is where his head was resting. - With some force, it seemed likely that he could reach his hand under either of them.

Hiyato was more than a little annoyed about his situation. He decided to check underneath his pillow.

Searching under the pillow, he felt a thin, pole-like object. Upon pulling it out, he discovered that it was a thin flashlight.
Flashlight: - A thin teal flashlight. - Has a black switch on the side.
He tried to recall if he had encountered anything that was too dark to see, recently.

Hiyato smiled as he picked up the flashlight. He remembered that the cabinet had been really dark, so he decided to go back and see if he had missed anything. He floated back over to the cabinet, turned the flashlight on, and searched the cabinet again.

However, it wasn't long before he realized that the flashlight wouldn't turn on. It seemed that the batteries had no power in left them.

Hiyato winched. The fact that there had been a dead flashlight under his pillow angered him.
"What the hell? It doesn't even work? Gah, how useless..."
He decided he needed to keep looking around. He decided to examine the bookshelf next.

The bookshelf had an odd assortment of books.
Bookshelf: - The shelf had 3 rows of books, each holding 9 books. This made 27 books in total. - The 4th book from the left, on the topmost row, was red. All the other books were grey. - Each book was held in place by a clamp. Hiyato could only assume that this was to prevent them from flying out of the shelve in this gravity-free environment. - However, it looked as though he could unclamp a book to take it out, if he wished. The only exception was the red book, which seemed to be locked in place.
There was a small sign on the wall next to the shelf as well.
Small sign: - It read: "For the safety of the crew, only one book may be removed at any given time."

Red book: - It won't budge from its spot. - The title is written on its spine. It seems to be called "Start Here".

Hiyato tried to pull the red book out, but it was like it was nailed down. He decided he would come back to the bookshelf and decided to look for batteries. He realized that the alarm clock probably had some. He floated over to it and examined it.

Digital alarm clock: - The current time was 11:36 AM. - The clock didn't have a power-cable coming out of it. - On the back, was a small battery compartment, containing two AA batteries.
His search was a success. Inside the clock were two AA batteries, ripe for the picking. But something caught his eye... the time. It had been 11:30 when he woke up. That meant he had less than 3 minutes before the hatch opened. The screeching from the hatch above him continued to remind him of that.

Noticing the time, Hiyato panicked. He rapidly took the batteries out of the alarm clock and put them into the flashlight. He decided to check the mirror because it was one of the last places left that he hadn't checked. He floated over to the mirror.

As Hiyato floated toward the mirror, he noticed a green 4-sided die taped to it. It was just like the other three dice he had found, only with 4 sides this time. Tall Mirror:- Attached to the wall, not far from the bookshelf. - It's quite dirty. - There was a 4-sided die taped to it. 4-sided die:- A green die with 4 sides. However, just as he got within grabbing distance of it, he noticed how odd his face looked in his reflection. There were huge rings under his eyes. He looked incredibly weak and malnourished. If not for his familiar clothes, he would almost have looked like a stranger to himself. His hair was a mess, and his overall body shape looked terrible. It was as though he hadn't gotten any exercise for 20 years. Just then, a sharp memory hit him. It was the last thing he remembered before waking up in this room... A man dressed in all black. His face was concealed beneath a bulky gas mask, which itself was burrowed in a deep hood. It was February 7th, and Hiyato had arrived home after being out late one night. The evening had gone as normal, and he was ready to drop on his bed and fall asleep. However... something wasn't right. There was a strange breeze in his house. He was sure all the windows had been closed when he left, and yet it felt as cold as it was outside. Trying to locate the source of this coldness, he walked through the rooms, trying to feel the air. That's when he found it... a window. One of the panes was hanging open. He walked up to it, confused about how it got open. Perhaps he missed a window when he was closing them, or maybe he simply remembered wrong. Shrugging his shoulders, he reached his hand out, and pulled the cold window pane closed. That's when it happened. The masked man in all black... he was standing right there. In the reflection on the window that he had just closed. Hiyato flinched and turned around immediately. The mysterious masked man was truly in his house, staring directly at him, and breathing deeply through the mask. Hiyato stood there in shock. His mouth opened to scream, but all he could manage was a strange croak. He tried to step toward the man but his legs could no longer support his weight. He collapsed on the floor, unable to defend himself from whatever the freak might do. A spray can laid on the floor by him, as he uselessly tried to move his muscles. It was spraying out a white smoke, which had begun to fill the entire room. That must have been what had immobilized him. The smoke had grown so thick that he could barely see the walls of the room any longer. All he saw was the man in the gas mask staring down at him. As his conscious mind began to fade, he heard one last thing before passing out. "Congratulations. You have been one of the few chosen... to participate in a game. The Nonary Game. It is a game where you will put your life on the line."

Hiyato finally remembered what was happening. He wanted to scream, but he knew it would do him no good. There was no time. He had to get out now. He pulled the die off of the window and put it in his pocket with the others. He decided to go back to the desk, and roll the dice. He floated back over to where the desk was and put the dice into the cup on the table.

The dice went into the cup smoothly, bouncing around indefinitely inside due to the lack of gravity. Simple objects in motion, the sound of them hitting the walls of the cup with each bounce practically made it feel like they were rolling on their own.

Hiyato remembered that the dice were magnetic, so he un-taped the cup and rolled the dice onto the desk.

The dice bounced up and down on the metallic desk, as though they were being pulled down to it by gravity. Almost perfectly mimicking the behavior of dice on Earth, they eventually finished bouncing, and rested on the desk.
The four-sided die landed on 2. The six-sided die landed on 4. The first eight-sided die landed on 1. The second eight-sided die landed on 3.

Wondering how significant these numbers were, Hiyato memorized them then rolled the dice again.

The dice rolled on the desk again successfully, not succumbing to the zero gravity environment. The results were the same as before.
The four-sided die landed on 2. The six-sided die landed on 4. The first eight-sided die landed on 1. The second eight-sided die landed on 3.

"Hm, I better not forget those numbers."
Hiyato decided it was time to examine the bookshelf again. He turned on his flashlight, floated over to the bookshelf, and shined the light on it, examining it.

Because of the sign about taking one book only, and how strange everything had been so far, he expected the other books to lock into place. Hiyato shrugged and put the book back. He decided to check the cabinet again now that the flashlight was working. He floated over to it and examine it, shining light in it with the flashlight.

As he shined the flashlight into the cabinet, the back of it became bright enough for him to see what had been hidden in the darkness. What he found inside was a small code, scratched into the bottom of the back right corner. The code was "2R 2D 3L 1U".

Hiyato's brain clicked into action. He memorized the code, and floated back over to the bookshelf. He traced the books from the red one, sliding his finger two to the right, two down, three to the left, and one up. He pulled the book to the left of the book underneath the red one out of the bookcase.

Like all the other grey books, it came out of the clamp fairly easily. However, there was something different about it. Almost as though it wasn't really a book.

He started by opening the book up. What he found inside was a green compartment, embedded in a rectangular hole that went through all the pages. It seemed to be the same shade of green as the dice he had found.
Green case: - It was locked. The case would not not open. - There was a number pad on the front of it, with an "Enter" button. - The screen above the number pad showed spaces for 4 digits: "- - - -"
