"RIIIIIIIIING!!!"
An ear-splitting noise rang loudly in Mei's ear, waking her from her slumber.

"Wha...? Whuzza!?"
Mei jolted up from her sleeping position, at the sound of the ring. Her ears stung from the shattering noise that had woken her up. She rubbed her eyes and opened them widely to yell at whoever was responsible for the noise. Disoriented however, it took her a moment even to realize that she had no idea where she was.
"...Da hell...? What's this place?"
She shook her head and rubbed her eyes one more time before getting up to look at the room.

The small room was a dim-white color, almost reaching "gray" territory. The lights were hardly bright enough to see from one end of the room to another, but she could see enough to know that she'd never been in this room before. A night-table with a digital alarm clock stood to the side of her. This, no doubt, had been the source of the ringing. A few feet away was a circular window, no wider than 2 feet in diameter.
As she continued to peer around the room however, she realized something startling. Her feet were not on the ground. She was afloat in mid-air, carried by nothing but momentum.

"W-Whoa... wha...!?"
Mei swung her arms rapidly to keep her balance. But it didn't help. She could feel nothing beneath her feet. Nothing to walk on, nothing to balance on, nothing to even stand in place on. She was in the air, succumbing to no force but momentum.
That's when she noticed the night-table nearby. She reached out and grabbed onto it, hoping to regain control of herself.

Her hands got a good grip on it, allowing her to regain control. The table seemed to be built into the floor, so her grab didn't cause it to move from its place. As she held onto the table, she noticed something. The digital alarm clock said "11:30 AM". It was almost midnight.

She stared at the clock in disbelief. What dumbass sets an alarm clock for midnight? She felt like kicking the table with her foot, but her position made it difficult.
"Ugh... W-What's going on...?"
She looked around the room again, and her eyes caught the circular window a few feet away. Using all her might, she reached out to the edge of it, and pulled her body to it.

What she was an unusual sight. There was nothing but stars and space, as far as her eyes could see. No sign of land, sky, or anything remotely resembling what could be found on Earth. Small pieces of rock debris floated by the window, as she stared into the dark depths before her.

Mei couldn't believe what she was seeing. There was no way this was real.
"What kinda bullshit dream is this..."
And yet... it felt very real. She continued to stare at the grand view out the window, in complete awe. Just then, a question hit her.
"How did I even get here!?"
Questions and confusion filled her mind until she began to feel distressed. Just what the hell was going on? Only two things were clear to her: She was somewhere in outer space, and she wanted OUT.
"An exit... there's gotta be an exit somewhere...!!"
She desperately looked around the room, searching for a door out of there.

As Mei's eyes scanned the room for a door, she noticed one on the other side of the room. It was dark gray, and had a square shape, suggesting no one side of it to be "top" or "bottom". Without gravity, it didn't make a difference either way.
Before she could wiggle her floating body towards it however, she noticed something else. On her left wrist. It was some sort of bracelet... unlike any she'd ever seen before. The design was rather tacky, and it was uncomfortably tight. On the top was a circular screen, giving off the impression of it being a digital watch. However, it didn't display any numbers. All it showed was "- -". Two dashes. As though there was nothing for it to display.

"Wha...? How'd this ugly thing get on me!?"
She was beginning to panic. She immediately grabbed onto the strange device, and started trying to rip it off.

To his dismay, the watch wouldn't come loose, no matter how hard she tugged. It was so tight that she couldn't even fit her finger under the strap.

"Get off... fuckin' piece of shit...! Agh!!"
She bashed her left hand against the wall, hoping to break it off. Ignoring the pain, she bashed it again, and again.
'Agh! Aaagh!"

But it was no use. The watch wouldn't even crack. As far as she could tell, it was stuck on there for good.

Her hand began to slow down, as she realized it was hopeless. A small stream of tears began to fall from her eyes as she desperately tried to get it off. The tears floated before her, each droplet going in its own direction.
She held her left hand in pain, and clenched her teeth. Her eyes shut as she tried to endure the reality she faced.
"I'm... I'm really in space, aren't I..."
She remained afloat in despair for a minute, before realizing something.
"I... have to get out of here. The door..."
She looked around her, until her eyes finally met with the door at the other end of the room. It had to be a way out. Violently grabbing the night table again for some leverage, she placed her feet on the wall, then pushed off, sending herself toward the door at a high speed.

As she approached the door however, she could find no apparent knob on it. She didn't see any way to get it open... except for a button. There was a small red button, off to the side of the door. A dim glow emanated from it. Printed directly above it was the text "OPEN". Perhaps it was connected.

She reached the door, barely managing to stop the momentum from smashing her face into it. Seeing the small button, she hurriedly reached her arm out, and pressed it several times.
"Open... just open already...!"

But the door didn't open. It remained shut, keeping her trapped inside the room. A robotic female voice played from the intercom speaker above her.
"You have selected to activate the emergency escape hatch. In 9 minutes, the hatch above you will open, allowing you and the contents of this room to be sucked out into the deep vacuum of space. If this action was made in error, please scan your Life card here. Otherwise, we hope you enjoy your stay in space. Have a nice day."
As soon as the recording ended, a metal box of some sort popped out of the wall by the button. It appeared to be some kind of key-card reader. But before she could make sense of it, she heard a creaking sound come from above her.
It was the large hatch on the ceiling. This must have been what the voice was referring to. A large wheel-shaped latch kept the hatch closed, putting a safe wall between him and outer space. But something wasn't right... the wheel was slowly turning, creaking with each inch.

"What the...!?"
Mei stared up at the hatch in horror. This wasn't happening. This couldn't be. She grabbed onto the wall, and began pounding on the door as hard as should could.
"Open up! Open up! Dammit, someone just let me out!! Someone! Anyone!"

But there was no response. She was alone. If she wanted to escape a painful death, she would have no choice but to find this "Life card" the voice spoke of.

"Aagh!!"
She hit the door one more time, before dropping her arms. It was useless. Her eyes darted around the room, looking for another possible exit. But her hope sank even further. There wasn't one. She turned back around and stared at the card reader by the door.
"...Da fuck's a Life card!?"
There were only two options left:
1: Die.
2: Find a "Life card" somewhere in the room.
As hopeless as it seemed, looking for this card was the best option she had left. If it wasn't in that room, she'd be dead in 9 minutes. But if there was any chance that a "Life card" was hidden somewhere, there was a chance that she could survive. Desperate to find it, she began searching.

She started by kicking herself off to the wooden cabinet. She knew instinctively that a hidden item would likely be somewhere out of sight. As soon as her body arrived at it, she grabbed onto the handles and tried to rip the doors open.

However, they wouldn't budge. The cabinet seemed to be locked. Her arms ached from the resistance to her strong pull.
Wooden Cabinet: - The cabinet was a few feet to the right of the bed. It seemed to be made of a strong wood. - It was locked. There was a keyhole on the right door of it. - There was nothing else of interest on or near the cabinet.

"Ngh...!"
She held the under-sides of her arms in pain.
"Damn cabinet!"
In her frustration, she lifted up her leg and kicked it like a dog. Next thing she knew, the momentum of the kick had sent her flying back. Her head crashed into the wall just as hard as she had kicked the cabinet.
"Aaaagh!!!"
Holding her head in pain, she yelled and flailed in anger at her ironic retribution. She wasn't skilled in controlling her rage. When she finished, her eyes fell on the metal desk. Still in a hurry to find the Life card, she quickly kicked herself off in its direction, looking everywhere for anything resembling a card.

Nothing card-like was in sight, but it didn't take long for her to find something else.
Metal desk: - It seemed to be made of metal. - There was a green 6-sided die laying on it. Oddly enough, it wasn't floating. - Near the die, there was a brown dice-rolling cup taped to the desk. - The desk had two drawers. A right one, and a left one.

"A drawer...!"
Hoping to find the Life card inside, she grabbed the right drawer, and tried to pull it open, with some restraint this time.

When she opened the drawer, she was immediately greeted with a flood of pencils, paper, and other office supplies, flying out in her face due to the lack of gravity. The objects blocked her vision from the drawer as they spread out in the air. One pencil made its way toward her eye at an alarming speed.

"Eeeek!"
She batted the pencil out of her face before its tip could pierce her.
"Son of a...!"
A melting mess of rage and frustration, she began batting all the supplies out of the way like a wild gorilla.

The supplies all went off in different directions, bouncing off the walls like an indefinite game of pong. With no gravitational force to slow is down, one stapler came back and crashed into the back of her neck at full speed.

"Ack...!!"
Her neck ached from the impact of the stapler. Rather than feel lucky that she hadn't gotten a staple stuck in the back of her neck, she continued to throw her fit, shouting out swears and flipping around in zero gravity. It wasn't long before she completely lost her bearings, and began to feel nauseous.
"Ugh... i-if I puke here... oh God..."
She held her stomach with one hand, feeling weak from all her flailing. With the other, she held the desk, to keep herself from spinning any more. Just then, she felt something coming...
"Oh... ough... uuugh!!"
She quickly stuck her head into the open drawer, and let out a stream of vomit. It filled the drawer, some of it splashing back out from the impact and landing right on her face. The rest splashed around inside the drawer like an indefinite ocean wave looking for a place to go.
